Purpose of CM Punjab Livestock Card Scheme
Livestock plays a important role in Punjab’s rural economy. Many farmers rely on animals for milk, meat, and income, but struggle to afford quality feed or veterinary care. The CM Punjab Livestock Card Scheme 2025 solves this problem by giving farmers easy access to interest-free credit.
The goal is to improve animal health, increase productivity, and ensure stable income for livestock owners. The scheme also reduces farmers’ dependence on private lenders who charge high interest rates.
Background and Vision Behind Livestock Card Scheme
The Livestock Card initiative was first introduced in 2022 under the guidance of the Chief Minister. Its purpose was to modernize Punjab’s livestock sector through digital financial inclusion.
By 2024, more than 1.2 million farmers had benefited from the first phase of the project. Encouraged by this success, the Punjab government launched Phase 2 in 2025, adding new districts, a mobile app, and a higher loan limit for dairy farmers.
The 2025 expansion marks a major step in the province’s goal to empower rural communities through financial support and digital transparency.
